Apple Butter is produced by the long, slow cooking of apples, with added “warming spices”, to a point where the sugar in the apples carmalizes, resulting in a dark brown spread with intense apple flavor. The term “butter” refers to the butter-like thick, soft consistency and the use of it as a spread. There is no actual dairy butter in the product.
Our 8 oz and 17 oz Apple Butter is 100% natural with no added sugar. Our 38 oz Apple Butter has added sugar. Our Pecan Apple Butter is sweetened with a combination of brown sugar, crushed pineapple and raisins.
Beyond the usual use of apple butter as a spread, it is also a great additon to baked goods, BBQ sauces, marinades and glazes. Use it as a side, add it to carnitas, stir it into plain yoghurt, drizzle it over vanilla ice cream or a pound cake or add it as a condiment to a cheese plate paired with cheddar, brie or goat cheese. It makes a great pizza sauce topped with ham, smoked gouda cheese and arugula…trust us and try it! Apple butter is the perfect combination of sweet and savory!
